The Pre-Symposium will feature insightful Master Classes, followed by a diverse array of presentations delivered by academics and industry professionals from around the world.
Pre-Symposium Master Classes:
- Chat GPT as a Writing/Design Aid at Early Stages of Writing Projects and Text Development, by Pavel Zemliansky, Oslo Metropolitan University
- Plain Language and UX: An Approach for Technical Communication, by Carolyn Gubala, University of California Davis, University of Strasbourg
- Fake News: A User Experience Perspective, by Ray Gallon, University of Strasbourg, The Transformation Society
The overarching theme of the Symposium is "Re-thinking Usability and Design”, exploring intersections with technical communication and localization. The primary objective is to convene researchers specializing in usability, technical communication, and localization to:
- Discuss the current state of research in these areas
- Present the results of recent (i.e., within the last year) research in these areas
- Collect comments and suggestions on ongoing or future research projects
- Explore opportunities for research partnerships with colleagues working in these areas
- Map prospective research trends in these areas
- Plan trajectories and discuss conference and publication venues for participants’ work
